Sun Flower Bliss
I hear theres an amazing field of sun flowers in the Ukraine and when I googled the field I came across this one picture...if this really exists I would love to go there. It would be incredible to be able to find a place where sun shines not only in the sky but in the ground...when you see this picture you'll understand.
My next big project is to plant tons of sunflowers in my garden since I doubt I'll be going to the Ukraine anytime soon.
Plus it would be lovely to not have to go to the flower shop so often and have my own sun flower resources in my own yard.
With that said I made a sunflower arrangement for a guy who wanted to surpirse his girl friend.
Girls seem to love sun flowers and you can never go wrong with them.

Maid of Honor..Thats me!
Being that weddings are my fascination, the recent news that my sister is engaged has got me extremely excited. I think I was probably more excited than she was the night of her engagement. It's just not often that someone I know gets married and the fact that it's her is even better. She asked me to be her maid of honor and florist so this wedding is a pretty big deal to me. My mission is to be the best maid of honor ever so I have tons to plan. My first approach to this is to have a movie marathon and watch all of my wedding related movies...The Wedding Planner is at the top of my list, following Made of Honor, 27 Dresses, and Bride Wars, to try and pick up any ideas from them. And since I believe it is my job as her sister and maid of honor I have to plan a few parties for her... the most recent to come will be her engagement party and I have a few ideas for it as far as the flowers go. Ive had a recent urge to make everything with hydrangeas because that's my favorite all time flower and I've come up with a few designs I want to incorporate to this wedding ordeal...maybe the engagement party or the bridal shower.
This is one big centerpiece that was actually made by my boss but it goes with my arrangements so it's an idea aswell.
And the rest were created by me and I'm completely in love with them.
This one I would want to use for the tables as centerpieces..
This one would be the main piece for the gift or dessert table
It's not all set in stone but for now this is what I'm thinking...This is gonna be a year long journey so wish me luck, lets just hope I do this maid of honor thing correctly and make my sister's journey and incredible one....fingers crossed :)

A Secret Garden Picnic
A few weeks ago to celebrate my 22nd birthday my boy friend took me on an amazing trip to Napa Valley and in our wine tasting adventures we ran into one of the cutest picnic gardens ever!
If you ever saw the movie Secret Garden then you'll feel like you've stepped into the movie when you come across this picnic site. In search of one of the wineries we were headed to, we found this picnic grounds called V. SATTUI Winery and Deli. The greatest thing about this picnic garden is that in the middle of the garden they have an incredible deli/cheese market where you can stop by and buy any cheese or complementary wine food you can imagine. Since we had planned on buying some baguettes and cheese for our road trip to each vineyard, we were extremely pleased with this little store. They sell about 100 different cheeses, hams, breads and even have a huge selection on wines from all the local vineyards. It's pretty much picnic heaven. The place is just spectacular...it has an old french cottage feel, full of flowers and vines everywhere you look at. I doubt theres one ugly peace of ground in this fairytale picnic ground. Every bench and spot to sit at has beautiful surroundings and I would definetely go back and have a picnic there in the future.
Since the boy friend had an entire day of activities planned for me we only stayed a bit in the gardens and took some beautiful pictures...but we also bought some amazing gouda, parmesan cheese, some local cheese invention, a baguette and a cute cheese knife for a souvenir. All which tasted amazing and were even better paired with the many wines we had...So if you're ever in Napa Valley I really recommend you head over to this amazing picnic garden...It will leave a lasting impression, never to be forgotten.

Pretty Pastels
These past few days I've been realizing how much people are loving pastel colors in their floral arrangements. They are definetely making a come back and I doubt those colors will go away any time soon. Since I'm big on following the trends, I'm loving it too and can't seem to stop making little pastel creations.
Heres one that I love so much...

Pantone
Every year the fashion world announces the color of the moment...This year's color is called Pantone, a dynamic reddish pink. People pay thousands of dollars in the beginning of the year to be the first to find out this "IT" color...it's pretty much a big deal in the world believe it or not. But one very smart lady told me the secret of being the first in the know and get away with paying absolutely nothing for it too. Heres my little secret and I won't charge you anything for it:
If you cruise over to Neimanmarcus and Nordstroms take a look at their window display the color that repeats the most is likely to be the color of the year. But if you're not convinced you could also go to Borders stand a bit away from the magazines and see what color blurrs together from all of the magazines. It never fails...If you're curious to see what the color Pantone consists of..check out my flowers.
Pantone inspired arrangement :)

My very first official day at the Flower Shop
Last week was my first week of work at Bridget's Blooms and it was amazing!...gets better every day.
As far as great jobs go this one tops the list. It's surprising how much work you really do at a flower shop. There is always something to make, clean, or prepare so it never gets boring. When people say pain is beauty or something along those lines they don't lie. When creating something as beautiful as a flower arrangement you may come across some pain...I think I about cut myself or damage my hands at least twice a day...so I recommend investing on some bandaids if you ever plan on following my footsteps. The very first arrangement I created for Bridgets Blooms got sold with a quickness so that was by far the highlight of my day...knowing that someone out there actually loved my work. :) My boss then decided to make it my signature design...now I just need to be able to make it in under 10 minutes..wish me luck. :)
